A JTG Racing spokesman confirmed that crew chief Walter Giles has left the No. 59 Nationwide Series team and driver Marcos Ambrose. Gary Cogswell takes Giles’ place immediately, beginning with Monday’s test at Richmond International Raceway.
Giles, a native Australian like Ambrose, joined the team for the 2008 season. Giles had previously served as lead engineer for Martin Truex Jr.’s Cup series team for Dale Earnhardt Inc.
While teammate Kelly Bires is eighth in the Nationwide points standings through six races and has a top-five finish, Ambrose is 16th in the standings, with a best finish of 11th at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The veteran Cogswell moves from the team’s Craftsman Truck Series operation, where he served as crew chief for Scott Lagassee Jr.
