52 on preliminary Nationwide Series Carquest Auto Parts 300 entry list
Fifty-two cars are on the preliminary entry list for this weekend’s Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, one of the largest entry lists for a NASCAR Nationwide Series race this season, though one has already withdrawn.
On the entry list are 13 full-time Sprint Cup drivers, including the two running for the Nationwide championship: Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing).
Other Cup drivers entered are Dale Earnhardt Jr. (JR Motorsports), David Ragan and Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway), Joey Logano (JGR), Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing), Brian Vickers (Braun Racing), Kevin Harvick (Kevin Harvick Inc.), David Gilliland (Smith-Ganassi Racing), Joe Nemechek (Nemco Motorsports), Paul Menard (Yates Racing) and Scott Speed (Michael Waltrip Racing).
Gilliland replaces regular Smith-Ganassi driver Kenny Hendrick in the team’s No. 42 Dodge.
Part-time drivers entered with full-time teams are Casey Atwood (Day Enterprises Racing), Patrick Carpentier (SK Motorsports), Burney Lamar (Braun), Robert Richardson Jr. (R3 Motorsports), Stanton Barrett (Rick Ware Racing), Scott Wimmer (Key Motorsports), Kevin Lepage (Means Racing), Kevin Hamlin (MacDonald Motorsports), Johnny Chapman (MSRP Motorsports) and Terry Cook (MSRP Motorsports).
A Cope/Keller Racing entry that had no driver listed has been withdrawn.
Barrett had hoped to race in Saturday’s event before racing in the Indianapolis 500 the next day but failed to qualify at Indy.
