SPARTA, Ky. - Bill Davis Racing's Mike Skinner won the pole for Saturday night's Built Ford Tough 225 Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway, turning a lap of 171.499 mph in Saturday afternoon's qualifying session.
It was Skinner's first pole at the track, his third pole of the season and the 46th of his career. The 1995 series champ took the top spot for the third time in six races and qualified on the front row for the fifth time in the last seven events.
“Our truck wasn't really good enough to get the pole, but I'm not sure how many of these things we've gotten because I was dumb enough to hold the thing wide-open and not hit the fence," Skinner said.
Billy Ballew Motorsports' Kyle Busch qualified second at 171.217 followed by Roush Fenway Racing's Colin Braun at 171.076.
BDR's Johnny Benson and Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Jack Sprague completed the top five.
Billy Ballew's Marc Mitchell, Germain Racing's Todd Bodine, KHI's Ron Hornaday, Germain's Justin Marks and MRD Motorsports' Chad McCumbee rounded out the top 10.
Mitchell and Xpress Motorsports' Brian Scott went to backup trucks for the race after crashing in qualifying.
Rosenblum Racing's Wayne Edwards was the only driver who failed to make the race.
