Harvick, Hornaday confront Kyle Busch after truck race

BROOKLYN, Mich. – Kevin Harvick and Ron Hornaday were involved in a shouting match with Kyle Busch after Busch wrecked Kevin Harvick Inc.’s No. 33 truck on the last lap of Saturday’s Cool City Customs 200.
 
Television replays showed Hornaday running through the garage to confront Busch, then yelling at Busch along with Harvick, who angrily gestured at Busch. The Billy Ballew Motorsports driver yelled back and had to be restrained from getting closer.
 
“If he’s going to race that way, that’s pretty chicken,” Hornaday said. “He doesn’t deserve to be a racer. He’s got a lot of talent, but that is flat stupid. If Billy Ballew needs the [owners] championship that bad, then drive that way because he’s got the right driver. I don’t knock any other driver, but I tell you what, that kid is just about done to me now.”
 
Hornaday was en route to a top-five finish when Busch spun him out by nudging the nose of his truck into Hornaday’s KHI ride.
 
Busch drove around to a seventh-place finish while Hornaday finished 23rd, dropping KHI from first to fourth in owner points.
 
Ballew remained in second, eight points behind Bill Davis Racing’s No. 23 truck but 21 points ahead of KHI’s No. 33.

Busch talked about the incident after arriving at Kentucky Speedway for the Nationwide Series race.
 
“I was going down the frontstretch, trying to look high and he stayed up against the wall so I stayed down to look underneath him and then he turned down," Busch said. "I wasn’t expecting him to come across my nose like that. I got into him, spun him out.
 
“He didn’t have any damage to his truck fortunately. We had our incident to our Charlotte where I had a lot of damage done and wrecked a perfectly good truck. [Today] wasn’t payback or anything like that. I just got into him. I’m sorry about that."
 
Hornaday wasn't likely in a forgiving mood.
 
“I’m going to have to teach him a lesson and I hope I don’t hurt him,” Hornaday said. “...I’ve tried to talk to him as a friend, and I don’t know what it is, he’s just out there. He’s on an ego trip and if he’s going to wreck me every week, I guess we’re going to have to do it back to him.”

Busch brushed aside the harsh words from Hornaday.

“Remarks from Harvick and Hornaday are what they’re going to be," Busch said. "They’re  big-mouths anyway, so we’ll take it and go on with it and hopefully beat them out for this championship.”

Hornaday said he wanted to confront Busch to tell him that he disapproved of his driving.
 
“I don’t know what he’s thinking,” Hornaday said. “We’re leading the points, and I guess he needed to lead the points even more than we did.”
 
Harvick tersely declined comment other than to say, “I’m not the driver.” Busch headed immediately for a helicopter that would help get him to Kentucky for the Nationwide Series race later Saturday.
 
Hornaday was left behind, stewing.
 
“If NASCAR doesn’t penalize him and put him behind me [in points], I don’t know what to say,” Hornaday said.

    Hornaday stop complaining! Just because Kyle currently is the best all around driver! You were all over the track today and clearly dropped down on him. The other week it was "Onions" fault! Next week it will be Skinner's fault! If you can't play in the sand box go ahead and retire! Did you forget you’re "Geritol" today?

    I guess Ron didn't get the memo warning that Kyle Busch's car has a tendancy to get loose all of a sudden at the tail end of these races.

    Kyle Busch is a spoiled brat! He needs to grow up and put his talent to work the correct way or someone ( or more) are going to teach him a lesson on the track that will maybe make him wake up and smell the roses. Grow up Kyle!

    One day in one of the three series weather it's the Truck series, the Cup Series, or the Nationwide Series someone is going to teach Kyle Busch a lesson. I for one can't wait till that day comes.

    I'm with you Chrissie--Hope I get to see when it finally happens. Nascar has let KB get totally out of hand. He now sounds like Kurt Busch with his smart remarks about older drivers.Maybe he'll get what Kurt did. He got a little of what's coming to him in the Nationwide race today.

    I personally can't wait for the day that Kyle Busch gets his. I am so tired of hearing about hin and seeing everything that NASCAR lets him get away with. Last night when he hit the wall it was great. It is a shame he is so arrogant because he is a good driver. Maybe when he gets his payback from one of the guys who know how to do it and get away with it, he will come down off his homemade podium and race the right way.

    Hey come on guys , he is trying to save up enough money to get a nose job, UNLESS-- someone does it for him soon. It is so nice to see him hit the wall. Hmm maybe an ear and mouth job too.     Ron Hornaday whining about being spun. Now that is irony at it's finest considering his history of destrction. Perhaps that will teach him not to try to block someone on the last lap who is on fresh tires and running 10mph faster in the corners.

    Spaceman right on. He knew Kyle was coming on fresh tires and there was no way to hold him off. He should know that being the "veteran" that he is. And to say NASCAR is letting Kyle get away with too much is ridiculous. I mean there hasn't been any other driver like him for a WHILE. This is what NASCAR needs. SOME EXCITEMENT. But Hornaday will not do anything to Kyle because he is running for a championship and will do nothing to damage his chances. And just like Kyle said Hornaday and Harvick are doing nothing but running their mouths. Its pretty funny how you people complaining about Kyle want other drivers to do the exact same things. Wouldn't that make them just as bad as Kyle in your eyes? Kind of hypocritical don't you think?

    There hasn't been a driver like Kyle in awhile because other drivers have manners and know how to race with respect. They don't act like babies if they aren't first or don't win.

    Right on Chrissie, and add to that that there hasn't been a driver like him because NASCAR hasn't let any other drivers get by with what he does except Tony Stewart---Ask Kevin Harvick, for one.All drivers have to chase points and baby Kyle will too before it's over with--already happening---The Joe has spoken---read his article!

    I don't see what Hornaday has to complain about. Tell him to look at tapes of races from this year and last and see how many trucks he's taken out and it's "always an accident". If I remember right a black and yellow truck was passing him on the outside and he went up and clipped the left rear bumper and the other truck hit the wall. If it weren't for the wall the truck would've spun out so he has nothing to complain about.

    kb is a wrecking ball that is out of control and Gibbs and NASCAR are too blind to see it. Nearly every race he wrecks someone and yet he gets away with it. Someday someone trying to stay in the top 35 will give it to him after he gets pushed out of the way by pee wee. He claims booing is the same as cheers, why not give him total silence next time he gets introduced. When he wins no no boos just silence, no acknowledgment he even exists.

    I've followed NASCAR now for 40 years and really haven't seen a driver disrespect other drivers as much as Kyle Busch has. I admit he has talent but should use it in a positive way and not make so many people mad. One day he'll be looking for a friend and his luck will run out and instead of a Busch he'll just be the little shrub he reall is and be weeded out by the big boys. Jack

    Busch is riding high now because he is getting the equipment to win. The worm will turn, and he will be back into the wall finishing 36th like he used to be. He is a boy with no class, simple as that. He didn't race in the "minor" leagues enough to have any respect for the sport. Be patient, he will get his.

    Kyle Busch is an outright liar, I just watched the replay of the race and Ron Hornaday made no move at all to block Kyle. Kyle intentionally turned sharply right in order to move Hornaday. The least this punk should do is have enough intestional fortitude to own up to what he did and not make a fool out of himself by lying about it. He did it and he should "man up" enough to admit it. It seems the only solution to help this punk off of his ego trip is to keep him wrapped up in bent, twisted sheet metal on a weekly basis. Maybe then it might sink into his head, he 'aint as good as he thinks he is.

    I wish, I wish, I wish Harvick would punch Kyle in the mouth. This sport needs some life injected back into it. That said, I love everything Kyle is doing on & off the track... it proves the HMS robotic brainwashing can be overcome & a personality can return if you stop being forced to drink the Hendrick kool-aid

    Seems KB has been doing alot of wall hugging the past 2 weeks. Think it finally sank in after his NW series wreck and uneventful 13th place at Michigan. Sad part about the NW series championship is that it doesn't mean much anymore. Harvick dominated 2 years ago with 9-10 wins. Not even talked about anymore. Edwards won last year. He's barely mentioned. That series needs a new identity and needs it bad.

    Kyle Kyle Kyle Blah Blah Blah-You guys just can't wait to see what he is gonna do or say next and you love it. Without him you would have nothing to be doing besides sitting on here and ragging on someone. He is a racecar driver and that is what he is doing.
