MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Rookie Colin Braun led the first Craftsman Truck Series practice Friday at Martinsville Speedway, turning a lap of 94.228 mph in the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford.
Braun was 0.016 seconds faster than runnerup Johnny Benson, who went 94.153 in Bill Davis Racing’s Toyota. Matt Crafton (ThorSport Racing) was third at 94.143 in preparation for Saturday’s Kroger 250.
Jon Wood (Wood Brothers Racing) was fourth, with Donny Lia (TRG Motorsports) fifth. The rest of the top 10: Jack Sprague (Kevin Harvick Inc.), Dennis Setzer (Bobby Hamilton Racing), Mike Skinner (BDR)m Denny Hamlin (Billy Ballew Motorsports) and Ted Musgrave (HT Motorsports).
The truck series has one more practice Friday, at 1:45 p.m. EDT. Qualifying is slated for 10:10 a.m. Saturday, with the 250-lap race at 3 p.m.
The trucks of Butch Miller and Brian Sockwell withdrew, leaving 36 trucks entered in the race.
