Kyle Busch will run the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race this weekend at Dover International Speedway, and there might be more talk of how he could win a championship in all three of NASCAR's national series.

But let’s hope that talk is over. It’s not going to happen.

Busch definitely is a contender, if not the current favorite, to win the Sprint Cup title this year. He leads the Cup standings, and the chances are his team will even get better as it improves on the Toyota engine and continues to develop NASCAR’s new generation race car. If he wins the title this year, it most likely will be in Cup.

On the Nationwide side, Busch is second – 67 points out of the top spot. He is a contender to win that title but nowhere near the favorite. Because he is driving for at least three different teams (four if you count the two Joe Gibbs Racing teams he’s running with at various times), he likely won’t be able to get the consistency needed to win the title.

Sure, he’s a threat to win every race he’s in, but he certainly won’t be points racing in any of them. That will be left to points leader Clint Bowyer as well as Carl Edwards and David Reutimann. Busch isn’t going to think about or worry about the points. He’s just going to race, and that probably means a race or two where he will push the car beyond its capabilities and end up in the back of the field.

As far as the trucks, Busch already has missed two races and is 16th in points. Yeah, 16th. And people actually think he can win the title? Granted, there are 18 races left in the season, but would anyone think that Kelly Bires would win the Nationwide title from his current 16h-place spot?

Busch already is 204 points behind series leader Todd Bodine. He won’t make that up and leapfrog over 15 other full-time drivers in the process.

He won’t do it mainly because likely won’t be able to race in likely five of the remaining truck events.

He can’t race Milwaukee (unless he were to skip Cup qualifying at Infineon). He can’t do Memphis (unless he misses the New Hampshire Nationwide race). He can’t do Nashville (he’s already committed to the Watkins Glen Nationwide race). He can’t do Gateway (it is run in the afternoon prior to the Richmond Cup race), and he would need an incredibly fast jet to do Las Vegas (if he does the Dover Nationwide race in September).

To suggest he could miss more than a couple of races and still win the title is insulting to those truck teams that run every week. The drivers in that series are just too good, the teams just too strong, for anyone to think they could miss more than one race (OK, maybe two) and think they have a shot at the title

So if anyone mentions that Busch could still win three titles in one year, dismiss it. Don’t believe it. It isn’t going to happen.

Kyle Busch is great driver, but he can’t be in two victory lanes at the same time.

I wrote a comment on here yesterday exposing Bob McPackrass's motives for this article as shamelessly stooping to gain the approval and acceptance of the Hatred-Herd BUT IT GOT CENSORED!!!! I just hope level-headed people can see through this garbage! McPackrass is selling out Kyle and all his DIFFERENT teams and their HARD WORK and drive and success to simply.....APPEASE....all of the fans who hate Kyle. What Kyle and the different teams he's working with this year are doing is HISTORIC and a GREAT THING for this sport. Isn't it very impressive that despite missing races, this man still have a shot at the title!!!!! Why is the glass half empty Peckross? Also, why didn't you mention that Kyle doesn't accept a single penny for his efforts in the truck series? Or does that not help your agenda??

Worm, I consider myself to be a a fairly level headed person. With that being said, the only garabage I see is a rant from someone who is barely cognizant of the fine line that seperates "exposing" ones motives from simply just flying off the handle. Journalism is subjective and opinionated, deal with.

Sco Bea writes...."Journalism is subjective and opinionated, deal with it." No my 'fairly level-headed' friend..... I WILL NOT DEAL WITH IT! My dictionary says... "journalism: writing characterized by a presentation of facts WITHOUT an attempt at interpretation." Maybe I have an outdated edition....but honestly I don't really care! The guy can write whatever he wants.....and so can you and I....and Pearl Roll too.... From my perspective it's just dissappointing to consistently watch somebody selling out the hard work of INDIVIDUALS and their achievements to APPEASE a herd of sheep...but.....well.......that's just my OPINION....By your comments, you certainly don't have a problem with that do you Sco Bea?
