Carl Edwards beat British teenager Jaime Alguersuari and seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher before losing to Scotland’s David Coulthard in the semifinals of the 2008 Race of Champions on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London.

Carl Edwards wins at Homestead-Miami Speedway for ninth Cup victory of season

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards won his ninth NASCAR Sprint Cup race of the season Sunday in the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. But it wasn’t nearly enough to derail Jimmie Johnson’s third consecutive Cup championship.

Plenty of respect between Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson

In 2002, they didn’t know one another at all. Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson and Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards just happened to meet at an annual NASCAR get-together. Now the NASCAR Sprint Cup standouts are preparing for the last race of the season, the one that will determine which one is the 2008 series champion.
