7 reasons to watch the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway: No. 4 - Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson

November 12 2009

First, to see if recent history repeats itself in the form of another early accident for points leader Jimmie Johnson.

Johnson’s string of good luck ran out on lap 3 at Texas, and a similar setback could see him leaving Phoenix International Raceway somewhere other than at the top of the point standings.

Also watch to see if Carl Edwards can make his way to victory lane for the first time in 2009. Last year’s winningest Sprint Cup driver finds himself amazingly enough without a victory this season. Should Johnson falter and/or Edwards win, Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at PIR will equate to must-see TV.
