Speedway.
The fine folks at Brembo Brakes rank Martinsville as the second
toughest track on brakes with a 9.0 rating. Only Watkins Glen (9.5) checks
in as more difficult.
With drivers “on the brakes” 35 percent of the time at
Martinsville, according to Brembo, the brake pad wear during 500 laps on the
paper-clip track is equivalent to 80,000 miles in your street car. Keep that
in mind when you’re watching Sunday’s race.
