Prior to winning the Samsung 500 in April, Gordon had gone 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup races without a victory at the fast 1.5-mile track in Fort Worth. With just three races remaining before a champion is crowned at Homestead - the only track on the Sprint Cup Series schedule Gordon has yet win on in his legendary career - a victory at Texas could help Gordon stay within shouting distance of a fifth Cup title.
