7 reasons to watch the Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway: No. 6 – Last-lap passes

Fewer tracks hosting NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series have had as many last-lap passes as Talladega. The action might be fast and furious
throughout the day, but the money lap at ‘Dega remains tops.
It’s not an anomaly when a driver gets a push down the backstretch from a fellow competitor, rockets off the fourth turn, and makes the pass for the win on the final lap at Talladega. It’s the norm.
Brad Keselowski did just that earlier this year. Jeff Gordon’s done it, teammate Jimmie Johnson’s done it. So too have Brian Vickers and Dale Jarrett.
It’s part of the allure of the series’ biggest track, and part of the reason folks don’t leave until after the checkered flag has fallen.
