Welcome, Mustang
A Mustang is going racing in a major NASCAR series next season. That is a good thing.
I owned a Mustang once. It was a 1965. It was red, and it was a fastback. It was fast. At least it was until I got two speeding tickets in
it. Then it was remarkably slower. Sort of had a restrictor plate put on it.
From its beginning, the Mustang seemed to be built for racing. In its early years, it had an attractive, sleek, racy design, and people flocked to it for that very reason and the fact that compared to many other "racy" cars, it was cheap.
In later years, Ford turned the Mustang into just another car, and that was a sad thing. More recently, designers have returned it to a form similar to the glory days.
Of course, in NASCAR racing, with its often wacky aero rules, it's often hard to tell the Fords from the Chevrolets from the Toyotas from the Dodges.
Still, the Mustang nameplate will be fun to have around.
