Wix Filters Pick 3 Stock Car Fantasy Racing picks: Ford 400
Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of the hardest tracks to make fantasy selections at for a couple of different reasons. First, the track is only used once a year, meaning NASCAR’s new car has only been used there once.
Second, since it hosts the last race of the season, drivers battling for the championship could be taking unnecessary chances in trying to make up points – or the points leader could be driving conservatively trying to protect his lead.
Tier 1
Carl Edwards
He has not had the best season, but Roush Fenway Racing seems to be improving on 1.5-mile tracks, and Edwards has been terrific at Homestead. He won last year’s race, is tops in NASCAR’s driver rating for the track and has the best average finish of active drivers there (6.4).
Tier 2
Mark Martin
The numbers say Kevin Harvick, because he has the second-best average finish at Homestead. But stick with Martin as he makes one final attempt to win the championship this season. Plus, Martin has the sixth-best average finish (12.0), and that doesn’t include any races with Hendrick Motorsports.
Tier 3
AJ Allmendinger
Allmendinger has only raced once at Homestead, but he was 11th last year in the No. 10 Dodge. With no other obvious choice in this category, that’s good enough for us.
