On the Loose Side

No breaks for Chasers or Chasees
Thinking out loud:
I don’t have any proof, but I’d be willing to bet the schedule change that put Atlanta in the mix among the final three races leading into the Chase For The Sprint Cup will make it tougher for those riding at the bottom of the top 12 as well as those trying to get into the playoff field.
Bristol, Atlanta and Richmond – two short tracks sandwiched around one of the series’ fastest speedways. There’s not a cupcake among them.
Not that Auto Club Speedway, which used to hold the Atlanta date, was easy, mind you. But it seems like the potential for trouble looms larger in Atlanta.
• What happened to Silly Season? Outside of Brian Vickers re-signing with Red Bull Racing and Martin Truex Jr. announcing he will move from Earnhardt Ganassi Racing to Michael Waltrip Racing in 2010, it has been pretty quiet. The reason? Blame it on the economy. With sponsors getting harder and harder to come by, the money isn’t flowing like it used to in the garage. Teams, and drivers, seem to be sitting tight for the most part, partly because they don’t have a choice and partly because they aren’t convinced there’s a better deal around the corner.
