• I know folks are still saying there’s not enough action in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, but there have been six different winners in the first eight races. Hard to argue with that. ...

• He’s obviously a rookie: Remember when drivers could be spotted standing behind their haulers, chatting with fans and signing autographs? Seems as if that doesn’t happen anymore, right? Well, not unless you’re Joey Logano. Some 20 minutes before making his way to driver introductions at Phoenix, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver eased out of his team’s hauler, mingled with fans and signed several autographs. restrictor-plate race, at Daytona, were: Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, AJ Allmendinger, Clint Bowyer and Elliott Sadler. Place your wagers
accordingly. ...

• Speaking of Talladega: Yates Racing won its first race at the 2.66-mile track, with Davey Allison taking the checkered flag in the 1989
spring race. The team’s most recent victory, No. 57, also came there, courtesy of Dale Jarrett in the 2005 fall race. Both drivers qualified
second.
