FORT WORTH, Texas – The Gluckometer made a Texas-sized return for its first appearance since Sonoma in June.

For those unfamiliar, the six-year-old Gluckometer rates crowd noise during driver introductions using two very unscientific tools: My ear and a pen.

The most noise at Texas was drawn by Dale Earnhardt Jr., who received a 10 in the cheers category (10 being the most noise, 1 being the least). If anyone thinks Earnhardt Jr.’s popularity is declining, you couldn’t tell it by the cheers at Texas.

Surprisingly, the No. 2 cheers went to Tony Stewart, who drew a 9. The result was interesting because Stewart typically receives a mix of cheers and boos, but it was all cheers at Texas.

Mark Martin (8), Kasey Kahne (7) and Carl Edwards (6) also got strong cheers.

Jimmie Johnson nearly got the most overall noise, but was topped by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The three-time Cup champion drew a 9.5 in the cheer/boo mix category, topping Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon (8).

As usual, Kyle Busch received the most boos. He had an 8 on the Gluckometer scale, followed by loud boos for Juan Pablo Montoya (7) and Kurt Busch (6).
