Nothing more appealing in NASCAR than a first-time winner
No matter what happens during the remainder of the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, Red Horse Racing's Timothy Peters has to be proud of himself.
There is nothing more satisfying to me than to see a first-time winner in NASCAR, and Peters' victory at Martinsville is a clear indication that parity is alive and well in the Truck series.
Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Ron Hornaday has been the class of the field this year in winning six races in 21 starts, but that hasn't stopped drivers such as Roush Fenway Racing's Colin Braun or Xpress Motorsports’ Brian Scott from crossing the finish line to earn the first victories of their careers. ThorSport Racing’s Johnny Sauter, a previous race winner in what is now the Nationwide Series, also earned his first Truck series win this season.
Sure, there is plenty of talk about Jimmie Johnson and the Chase For The Sprint Cup heading into this weekend at Talladega, but Saturday's Truck race on Speed is intriguing to see if there will be another first-time winner.
