Carolyn grew up an army brat. It is her personal mission to live up to all stereotypes of the obnoxious NASCAR fan and to raise her children to follow in her footsteps.

As if Talladega isn’t wild enough, let’s throw Halloween in there. What self-respecting fan would pass up the perfect opportunity (not to mention audience) to fuse a little Halloween and NASCAR spirit into one respectable or maybe ridiculous costume.

So how do you decide who you’re going to be for Halloween?

There’s the thought of “pick something you love.” For example, my 7-year-old is going to be an Army Ranger … again. Then there is the opposite swing of the pendulum. Maybe pick someone scary or frightening. For example, my oldest son: Faceless ghoul (whatever that is).

And let’s not forget the final method of choosing a costume: Simply be outrageous.

This week Ask.com ran the numbers on all the people who searched for NASCAR Halloween costumes. More fans searched for Kyle Busch costumes than any other drivers.

The question, again, is how do you decide who to be for Halloween? Is this love, hate or simply to be outrageous?

I can’t pretend to know the reasons, but I do know I can’t wait for Halloween at Talladega.
