Carolyn grew up an army brat. It is her personal mission to live up to all stereotypes of the obnoxious NASCAR fan and to raise her children to follow in her footsteps.

Subtract the time we waited for the infamous pothole to get fixed and Daytona 2010 delivered big time for us fans. Kevin Harvick’s rockin’ aggressive move to claim the inside lane was synonymous with old school racing. And Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s rise from 10th to second during the final restart undoubtedly had Junior fans across the nation on their feet.

But what I will remember most about this year’s Daytona 500 wasn’t what happened on the track. Rather, it was the interview afterward in the winners’ circle.

Yeah, I’ve been known to cry when watching a commercial or two, and when Jamie McMurray momentarily buried his face in his towel to gain his composure, there was not a chance in the world I could keep my eyes dry.

And you know what? It was awesome to feel so moved. Johnny Benson’s lone Cup win has always stuck with me because his joy translated so well through the television. McMurray’s was equally as unforgettable.

Great racing coupled with a truly heartfelt win was the cherry on top. As a fan, I could not have asked for a better Daytona – although a shorter one, maybe.
