Fans can take part in breast cancer tribute
Pink.
Personally, I love the color. As a NASCAR fan, I rarely get to see it incorporated into paint schemes on the track. But, it will be a different story on Oct. 17 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, when multiple teams will be running the color as a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Ask.com, sponsor of the No. 96 Ford primarily driven by Bobby Labonte, has partnered up with the Susan G. Komen foundation to make that race day personal. Any fan who visits Ask.com on Oct. 1 can make a free tribute to honor survivors, those living with breast cancer or those lost to the disease.
These tributes will be featured on Labonte’s car for the upcoming race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
Most fans personally know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. The American Cancer Society reports 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their life. What a great opportunity for us fans to honor our moms, sisters, daughters and friends than with a few of our thoughtful words racing around the track.
Go pink!

Sep 30, 2009 at 3:00 PMThanks Carolyn. This is indeed worth marking on our calendars. Like you said, everybody knows somebody who is either a survivor or has succumbed to breast cancer.

Oct 1, 2009 at 5:06 PMThank you Carolyn,
Report as AbuseMy wife and I are both longtime fans of NASCAR. In June she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. She just had her third round of chemo yesterday and she should be well enough to attend the race with me next week at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Pink is our family's new favorite color. Breast Cancer Awareness month means so much more to us now and we want to thank everyone who takes the time and effort to support the fight for a cure.

Oct 13, 2009 at 3:27 PMMy Mom was a survivor and she lived to the ripe old age of 93. My wife has a big pink ribbon on her car. Lets pray more money is raised and this disease is finally stopped. So many families have had loved ones pass away from breast cancer.
